Reviewed and updated August 2026
If your resort still sees weekdays as the “quiet days,” it might be time to look at your guest list a little differently. Not every guest checking in on a Tuesday is on holiday.
Some are answering emails from your pool deck. Others are taking Zoom calls with a coconut tree in the background, while some are finishing presentations before heading out for a plate of fresh fish curry and rice.
Welcome to the new weekday traveller.
They're not replacing leisure travellers, but they're certainly becoming a bigger part of Goa's hospitality story.
The Office Can Be Anywhere
Google and Kantar's 2025 study of 1,000 online adults in India also found that travellers now use multiple digital touchpoints while researching, planning and booking their trips, highlighting how digitally enabled travel planning has become 1
It's also changed how and when they travel. Instead of waiting for annual leave, many professionals are extending weekends, taking shorter trips or spending a few days working from destinations they enjoy.
The Government of Goa has also begun publicly exploring this opportunity. In May 2026, its Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications hosted the two-day Goa Shackathon at Baga Beach, a beachside workation event, bringing
together startups, creators, students, innovators and remote professionals. 2
The official Shackathon website describes Goa as an emerging destination for workations, remote work, innovation and creative collaboration. It was designed for audiences including founders, startups, digital nomads, creators, freelancers and IT professionals. While one event does not by itself demonstrate the size of the workation market, it does show that the state is actively experimenting with positioning Goa as a place where people can work, connect and create while also enjoying a holiday.³
That broader positioning creates an opportunity many independent resorts could be well placed to explore.
A Wednesday Check-In Isn't a Bad Thing
For years, occupancy patterns followed a familiar rhythm. Busy weekends, quieter weekdays, repeat. Now, that's becoming less predictable. A guest might arrive on Monday, work remotely until Thursday and spend the weekend exploring before heading home.
Another may choose a four-night stay because travelling midweek is more convenient or economical. A weekday booking may carry a lower nightly rate, but a longer stay can still contribute more total room revenue and on-property spending than a short weekend visit.
What These Guests Actually Need
Here's the good news. Most remote workers aren't expecting a full corporate office. They're looking for a few essentials done really well. Reliable Wi-Fi, comfortable seating and plenty of charging points. A peaceful place to take a video call without a lawn mower making a surprise appearance halfway through.
It's often the simple things that make guests think,
“I'd happily work from here again.”
Think Beyond “Workation” Packages
A lot of resorts have jumped on the word workation.
Some have even created packages with catchy names.
That's great, but a name alone won't convince someone to stay. Instead of focusing on the label, think about the experience.
Can someone comfortably spend six hours working before enjoying an evening by the pool? Can they order a good lunch without leaving the property? Do they have quiet spaces as well as social ones?
The little details matter more than the buzzword.
Goa Has an Advantage Many Destinations Don't
Let's be honest.
There are plenty of places with fast internet but not many where you can finish a client meeting, hop on a scooter and be watching the sunset at Benaulim or sipping a cup of chai while the rain rolls over the paddy fields an hour later.
That's the magic of Goa. Life slows down without stopping or as we say here, it becomes a little more susegad.
For many professionals, that's exactly what they're looking for: a better balance between work and life, even if it's only for a few days.
Weekday Guests Spend Differently
A family on a weekend holiday and a remote worker staying five nights often use your resort differently.
Depending on the guest and the property, a longer weekday stay can create opportunities for:
- Daily breakfast orders
- Coffee and refreshments during working hours
- Lunch or room-service purchases
- Stay extensions
- Repeat visits if the experience works well
They may not spend every afternoon by the pool, but they often value convenience, consistency and good service.
Build Partnerships Around Your Resort
You don't have to provide everything yourself. In fact, some of the best guest experiences come from working with local businesses. Recommend a nearby café for a change of scenery, partner with a yoga studio for morning sessions, suggest a local bakery that serves warm poi straight from the oven, connect guests with cycling tours or kayaking experiences for after work.
Supporting local businesses doesn't just help the community. It gives your guests a more authentic Goan experience.
Don't Forget They're Future Holiday Guests Too
Someone who first visits your resort while working remotely may come back later with their family, or recommend your property to colleagues, or choose your resort for a team offsite. A successful weekday stay can also create future value through repeat visits, recommendations or enquiries for small team off-sites.
That's why every guest deserves the same warm welcome whether they're carrying a beach bag or a laptop bag.
The Week Doesn't End on Friday
For years, many resorts focused almost all their energy on filling weekends, but today's travel patterns are far more flexible. Guests are travelling differently, working differently and staying differently. The resorts that recognise this shift won't just strengthen weekday demand.
They'll build a more balanced business throughout the year, because sometimes the person typing away on a laptop under a shaded verandah isn't waiting for their holiday to begin.
They're already enjoying it. And if they can end the day with a walk on the beach, a plate of prawn balchão and the sound of the waves instead of city traffic… Well, that's a workday most people wouldn't mind repeating.
Every resort is different, and so are its weekday opportunities. At Hotel Growth Partners, we help independent resorts identify new sources of demand, improve their commercial performance and implement the systems that turn more inquiries into profitable bookings. Whether you need advice, new technology or ongoing commercial support, we'd be happy to help assess what makes the most sense for your property.
